Project Description
This hike should be called the Cheery Orchard Climb!
This is an out and back trail that is about 5 miles total. The first 3/4 of the trail is all up – we climbed to the top of the cliffs that are seen from the road, then the trail headed inward. I think there will be wild flowers here a little later in the season. There were great views of the Columbia River, and The Dalles is visible from the end of the trail. The trail ends at an old home stead that had a cherry orchard. The few trees that are left are over 100 years old – and they look it. Very broken but hanging on and still producing. A true test of time…
This trail has poison oak, and was infested with ticks – even in March. I would suggest leaving your dogs home for this hike.
