Project Description
Andrea and I went to Lost Lake outside of Hood River today. It was a chilly 18 degrees at the Lake – and colder at the top of the hike. Clear and beautiful. We dressed for the cold! The lake area is closed in the winter – so we parked on the road and walked in. Lost lake was partially frozen, but very beautiful! We hiked up the Lost Lake Butte trail to an elevation of 4468 feet. The view point at the top showed us Mt Hood, Mt Adams, Mt Rainier, and Mt Jefferson.
The trail to the top has areas of Rhododendrons and Bear Grass. This area would be worth returning in June when the Rhodies are blooming.
The Lake has a trail around it. We walked about 1 mile on the lake trail and saw many incredible views of Mt Hood. This is one of the most photographed lakes for a reflection of Mt. Hood.
