Project Description
Memaloose Lake Hike
Memaloose Lake is outside of Estacada about 15 miles. The hike to the lake is just over 2 miles and it is fairly easy. Today I ran into snow, but it was not too deep and most of the trail was clear. The trail does cross several small streams – waterproof boots came in handy today. I am sure later in the season these would not be a challenge to rock-jump.
Wild Rhododendrons
This forest is full of wild rhododendrons. They are also all around the lake. There is a camp ground area at the lake as well. I plan to return here in mid to late spring when the wild rhodies are blooming – it will be a beautiful site.
South Fork Mountain Hike
There is another trail that leave from the lake and goes up to the top of the ridge. Today the snow got deep fast so I turned around. It is said there is a great view of Mt Hood from the top. Once the snow is gone this would be a great addition to this hike. Can’t wait for June!
