Project Description

Sparks Lake is a very picturesque lake – on a clear day.  We were there on a rainy day, but the lake is still very beautiful.  I hear there are reflections of the near mountains in the lake on a clear day – something worth going back to see.

Ray Atkenson Memorial Trail

This is the trail we hiked.  It is a 2.5 mile loop through the forest, around awesome rocks, and along the east side of the lake.  It is a very easy trail that most anyone can walk.  At one spot there were thousands of little frogs.  They were running out from under our feet, and very easy to catch if one wanted to.  Other areas offered large basalt boulders to climb (or not) and a few small rocky canyons to admire.  The lake is also very beautiful.  There were many people in canoes and kayaks enjoying the lake as well.
